As opposed the the Carboniferous Era which gave us coal, my son has entered the Carbiferous Era which brings us bread, crackers, and cereal. He has also started putting his head down and giving it a good wail when he doesn’t get what he wants. In his booster seat, this means leaning to one side, scrunching up his eyes, and letting go with his voice. One the floor, he just puts or bangs his head down on the ground and starts hollering. Hopefully this phase is a short lived one. Like all phases, this one will last as long as it developmentally needs to plus any amount of time we spend pandering to it. The trick is seeing the natural end of a pattern and then moving to change behavior patterns. It’s like trying to catch a black cat at night with my eyes closed, but it isn’t boring.
