On Monday, my son walked almost all the way from Porter Square to our house. I was on an errand to the hardware and grocery store to get materials for the pickling adventure. I was hot and tired, but he pointed to the ground and said, “Downg, downg.” Out he came, and happily walked holding my and my daughter’s hands. He would walk with bitty steps and then with giant, for him, steps. It cracked him up every time. Every time was every few pavement squares. In the end, he walked about half a mile, and that is a lot of pavement squares!
My daughter was amazing in her encouragement and patience; my son took a three hour nap when we got home.
