This year’s garden was not too productive on the vegetable front. A few short carrots and beets, three peas, corn that fed a family of rodent thieves, and some spectacular sunflowers that probably won’t live to provide us with any seeds. However, some volunteer squash erupted from the ground early on. I let them grow, and there are two on the vine. One is even close to ripe. These plants were unintended and very untended. I even almost uprooted the one with a ripe squash on it when pulling out the corn stalks.
It is not always the original plan always the bears fruit.
