On Monday, I took the kids on an adventure. We hopped on the train and then a bus to take us to Castle Island and Fort Independence. Of course, had I read online about it I would have known that the fort was closed. Regardless, it was a wonderful spot, and we played in the playground, feasted on our picnic, and had a generally great morning in the bright sun and brisk beginnings of Autumn.
Maybe my destination would have been different if I had done research, but the essence of the adventure is identifying a potential destination and then being open to the journey as it unfolds and to the real destinations that appear. One of the major ones was the planes flying over on their approach to Boston Logan Airport. My daughter squealed in joy at each one, and with about five minute intervals for several hours, that was a lot of enjoyment.
