I have sorely neglected the composter which would be fine except our new tenants are great composters. This means that the compost has gotten thoroughly too wet and has become the home for all kinds of creepy crawlies. Tonight I went to a new sawdust location and lucked into two big bags that will carry us for a while. Time to dry those suckers out and turn them into good dirt. Next on the list is a Starbucks for grounds to get the Nitrogen up. It feels good to be using community resources to make our compost work.
Now when my daughter asks me why we are throwing food scraps in the trash, I can again point to the compost bucket and say, “We put food leftovers in the compost to make new dirt.”
