Measure Day

Two and a half inches! That is how much my son grew since his last measurement six months ago. Each birthday and each half birthday, we measure the kids on a growth chart. In my childhood, we used the side of the refrigerator, but it eventually broke down and was shipped off to the scrap heap with my heights, my sisters’ heights, and several of our neighborhood friends’ heights all consigned to oblivion. When my wife and I were looking around the house for a place to measure the kids, I decided that we should get a growth chart that would last longer than a fridge. We found a nice, hand-painted one featuring sunflowers. And Sunday was Measure Day!
