A Room of His Own

My daughter is attending a camp this week, and at that camp are at least four of her classmates from this year’s preschool group. She is in her element and having a blast. My son is attending three days. We weren’t sure how he would respond, but he, too, is having a blast. He loves going to school, having his own lunch bag, and being in a classroom that is not created and dominated by his older sister. He has a room of his own.

I don’t know what the balance will be for him in terms of his own space versus that occupied mutually with his sister, but for right now she controls much of that space. It is clear, however, that my son has a fairly strong personality and is quite willing and ready to do his own thing. I love that he is getting an extended opportunity to do just that.
