The Last (First) First Day

Tuesday was my son’s first day of school ever. He is very familiar with the room having spent many mornings there as I dropped of his sister two years ago. Now, he walks in as if he always belonged. I won’t have the opportunity to drop him off many times, but it was amazingly sweet to walk him up the path, do our usual things with opening the door and lots else. He happily put his lunch on the lunch shelf and went right to playing with play doh. I dropped off the first day load of pull ups and change of clothes, checked in with the teachers, and exited without a peep from my son. He will have many more first days, but this is a big milestone. It is the last first day but the first of many more.
