My son is potty training, and we did not have enough pants for this experience. I think my daughter potty trained in warmer weather or something. Anyway, we were running through his pants at a very rapid rate and had to rush out to get more. It goes in fits and starts with days going by without any wet pants coming home from school or hanging over the edge of the laundry basket to dry before washing. And then there is a four pants day. (For you Brits out there, I am talking about trousers). When my son grows out of size three, someone is going to get a box full of clothing with a odd proportion of shirts to pants.
